Dr Wendy Orme

Wendy joined NIAB in September 2021 as Chief Finance Officer.

She has over 20 years in the life science and pharmaceutical sector. After an extensive career at GSK, where she led the finance functions of numerous R&D teams and business development transactions, she was latterly the CFO of Galvani Bioelectronics, a JV between GSK and Verily Life Sciences, before joining Mundipharma as VP, innovation finance and corporate development. 

Professor Xiangming Xu

Research interests

Xiangming focuses his research on elucidating quantitative epidemiology of important pathogens/diseases on perennial crops, including top/soft fruit and ornamental species with the aim to develop and implementing sustainable and integrated disease management strategies. More recently, Xiangming has been engaged in understanding soil/substrate microbial ecology using next generation sequencing technology, with specific interests in the use of beneficial microbes for improving crop productivity.

Dr Juno McKee

Juno has over 20 years of experience leading and managing applied research, technical services, knowledge exchange and product development for agri-business and currently provides leadership for NIAB's innovation and commercialisation activities as Director of NIAB Ventures. Juno also serves on the Advisory Board of the British Crop Production Council and on the Executive Management Team of Agrimetrics - the UK Agri-Tech Centre for data science, analytics and modelling in the agrifood sector.

Mark Leaman

Mark is on the NIAB Executive and is responsible for all facilities across the Group, trials and farm operations at Cambridge and East Malling and health and safety.

Professor Mario Caccamo

Responsibilities

Professor Mario Caccamo was appointed as the Head of Crop Bioinformatics at NIAB in 2015, Managing Director of NIAB EMR in 2017 and NIAB CEO in October 2021.

A computer scientist by training, Professor Caccamo has over 20 years’ experience in life science research and big data, including specific projects to apply the latest DNA sequencing technologies and bioinformatics methods to advance scientific understanding of crop genetics and the interaction of agricultural crops with their environment.
