Grower Discussion Groups
As part of the AHDB Grass Campaign NIAB is part of a network of discussion groups that have been set up across the country aiming to help farmers understand more about best practice in grassland management.
NIAB is recruiting members to join the groups in Cambridge/Essex (led by Colin Peters) and Somerset (led by Poppy de Pass).
There will be 10 sessions organised for each group between March and October 2022 covering subjects such as improving soils, legume sword mix for biodiversity improved yields and reducing fertiliser inputs. The session content will be tailored to the needs of the group.
The objectives of the discussion groups over the course of the sessions are:
- help producers improve their confidence in grassland management
- improve the efficiency and profitability of the members
- learn from each other’s experiences and identify best practice
- support and challenge each other.
